ANGLERS DROP THEIR LINES FOR THE $1 MILLION FISH
SCA Fishing Promotions Continue to Reel In Big Bucks in 2000.

The often quiet and solitary pastime of fishing doesn’t seem like the sport for million dollar contests, but SCA helped several sport fishing tourneys offer record-setting, high-dollar contests this year.

From the Visa $2 million Challenge prize at the Wal-Mart FLW Tour organized by Operation Bass, to the $10,000 Silver Salmon Derby in Alaska, SCA is creating excitement for anglers worldwide.

Contests like Record Challenge reward the tournament participant who reels in a record weight fish; while the Tagged Fish Challenge™ dares anglers to hook a fish that has been pre-tagged as a big prize winner.

For the Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas’ $1 million fishing contest, numerous striped bass were tagged and released into Lake Powell, with one designated as the “million dollar fish.” Any angler who reeled in the specially tagged fish between certain dates could have won the $1 million grand prize. And that wasn’t the only big money tourney. Considered the world’s richest, largest, longest known fresh water fishing competition, the Lake Ontario “Million Dollar Derby” grand prize was designated for the lucky angler who could catch one of the 10 tagged salmon.
