SCA Promo Makes Wolfpack Web Site
a Howling Success

Raleigh, NC - For the North Carolina State University Wolfpack, opening kickoffs don’t just have the potential to rack up points — they can also pay off in cars and cash for fans. That’s because the college team is running SCA’s Kickoff Payoff promotion to drive traffic to its Web site.

Pack fans register to play in advance online. If the team returns any opening half kickoff for a touchdown, one lucky fan wins $20,000 toward a brand-new Toyota vehicle. Any other kickoff that results in a touchdown is good for $500.

Fans have already scored big with this promotion! On Saturday, August 31st — one of the first games of the season, sophomore cornerback Lamont Reid made a 90-yard kickoff return against East Tennessee State. It was the first time the Pack has returned an opening kickoff for a score since 1961. It was also the first big win for the fans and Kickoff Payoff contestants.

Longtime fan Pam Wilcher of Raleigh watched Reid’s play from her season ticket seats. Although she had registered to play, she was shocked by Wolfpack representative Bruce Weber’s call a few days later, announcing that she’d won.

“She thought I was joking at first,” recalls Weber. But with $20,000 to spend at
local dealership Fred Anderson Toyota, Wilcher was quickly convinced. She chose a 2003 Camry and paid for only the expense that exceeded her $20,000 prize.

Wilcher decided to share her luck by giving the car to her father. When the Southeast Toyota dealer rep heard of her generosity, he also offered to pay for North Carolina State merchandise. “Everyone involved, from Bruce Weber to Fred Anderson himself were kind, helpful, and couldn’t have done more,” notes Wilcher.

The Toyota Kickoff Payoff promotion has also resulted in two $500 winners, one of whom owes his cash to cornerback Lamont Reid again.

The promotion has definitely increased traffic to the Pack’s Web site, according to Weber. “The number of people registering for the contest has gone way up,” he says. “It’s the first season we’ve done this, and everyone, from the fans to the Toyota people, are very pleased.”

Weber credits SCA for the promotion’s smooth debut. “I could not give a higher recommendation for SCA. Their rates are great, and the service from our rep is unsurpassed. We’re at the point where we’re just not even looking for anybody else.”
