Columbus,IN - Radio stations are always looking for innovative ways to make themselves heard during ratings periods. Thanks to SCA, QMix 107.3 gained
listeners and revenues during the recent fall book with SCA’s Visible Vault™ promotion.

“It turned out to be a great promotion for us because it gave us a focus and a point of difference. It really built excitement into remote broadcasts,” says QMix General Sales Manager Dave Peach.


The Visible Vault is a clear, Plexiglas box with a five-digit combination. Listeners learned about the contest on-air, and then went to preannounced remote locations to try their hand at cracking the combination. The contest garnered two major sponsors, 30 remote locations, and crossed three counties. If that wasn’t enough excitement, participants were also given the chance to meet an on-air personality at each remote site.

The $10,000 cash prize was a definite draw , according to Peach, and the fact that contestants could see the prize inside the

vault added to the thrill. “It was the biggest cash prize offered in Columbus radio history,” he says.

Waiting turned out to be worthwhile for Nicole Sebastian of Columbus. Just days before the contest was scheduled to end, Sebastian cracked the the code at The Commons Centre in Columbus, Indiana and won big! The promotion was so successful, Peach decided to extend

it for an additional month beyond Sebastian’s win.

“SCA was very accommodating,” says Peach. “ We chose SCA because we saw great potential in the Visible Vault. It met our expectations and we can’t wait to do it again in 2003!”
