Bank Boosts Credit Card
Use With Visible Vault™

San Salvador, El Salvador – Looking for a way to increase card use, Banco Uno, the leading issuer of Visa credit cards in El Salvador, offered three head-turning BMWs as the grand prize in their “Three BMWs for YOU!”Visible Vault™ promotion.

Keys to the three vehicles – an X5, a 318 IS, and a SCARVER motorcycle – were placed inside two Vaults, and displayed at two major malls in San Salvador.

Consumers who made a purchase with their Banco Uno credit card from June 14 to December 31, 2003 received a chance to unlock the Vault's combination. Ultimately, 32,000 contestants participated before Dina Arely De Soriano of Soyapango, San Salvador entered the winning combination on December 2.

The Visible Vault promotion was so successful in boosting credit card use that the bank is planning to run it in other Central American markets, according to Ricardo Bonanno, president of EPG Entertainment Central America & Caribbean, an SCA independent distributor.

The three BMW's, valued at $100,000 USD, were secured through SCA and EPG.

“The prize was the biggest payout for a commercial promotion in El Salvador,” Bonanno notes. “Well, at least the largest for now. We are already planning to run another large-scale promotion later this year.”
