Juneau, Alaska - Looking for a big summer promotion to generate revenue and drive TSL for TAKU-105 FM and KJNO-AM 630, Alaska Broadcast Communications netted tens of thousands of dollars with SCA’s High Fives Money Bags game. The broadcast company recently ran two promotions in the cities of Juneau and Sitka.
Fourteen local businesses participated in the promotion as sponsors in each market. Each week, listeners were invited to visit the participating weekly sponsor’s location to register for the chance to play in the game show-style finale. Three times a day, the station qualified finalists by drawing five people who had to call in to become a finalist. At the finale event, one person was chosen from those registered and played for the chance to win $105,000!
“The best part about the High Fives game is that the final contestant is guaranteed to be a cash winner,” said Richard Burns the Group CEO of Alaska Broadcast Communications. “To ensure success with our promotions, it is key that we have winners, and SCA helped us with the prize structure.”
In High Fives, the final contestant selects Money Bags from a group of 40. He or she opens the bags until matching five of a kind. In this promotion, cash prizes were $5,000, $10,000, $20,000, and the $105,000 grand prize!
TAKU 105 FM and KJNO-AM 630 achieved unprecedented attendance levels at both events. In Juneau, over 6% of the total population turned out for the big finale, while an incredible 10% of Sitka’s population watched the lucky finalist play for big money!
“Sponsors were very happy with the amount of traffic they received to their business each week and the finale was huge. We have had so much success with this promotion we are rolling it out to our Ketchikan stations,” said the Group CEO.
