Paper Finds Big Dollars in “Money Bags”
The publishers of the Bismark Tribune in Bismark, N.D., cashed in twice with SCA’s exciting Money Bags™ contest. The first promotion rejuvenated an older publication and grew revenues substantially… the next produced record-breaking pickup rates for a new “community shopper” they had just introduced. Partnering with the local mall and its merchants, the paper’s readers searched each “shopper” to answer trivia questions about the stores. Contestants were chosen from entries to compete in a game show; this resulted in three finalists who drew from among 100 Money Bags in hopes of winning $25,000.
Miami Herald’s “Birthday Bash” Wish Comes True
SCA’s Birthday Bash™ promotion paid nice dividends for the Miami Herald. Readers were asked to mail in entry forms with their birthdays—100 of which were sent to SCA—for a chance to win $5,000 in the day and month match game and $1 million in the day, month and year game. As a result of the contest, the paper’s circulation increased and a tremendous number of entries were received.
