Stop the Bathroom Rush with a Halftime Contest

Fans all over the globe attend sporting events to see their team win and to have a great time. But in life, you sometimes remember things you didn’t expect. You may not be able to recall which team won at your first professional football game, but you may remember the random fan who hit nothing but net from half court!. You’re not just putting a sports team on the court – you’re providing entertainment for your fans from start to finish. Check out these great crowd rocking moments, performed not by your athletes, but by fans taken from their seats!

Baseball Contest: This contest was sponsored by Taco Bell and put on at one of the biggest events possible, the MLB All-Star Game. Occurring at a typically docile time between innings, fans were whipped into a frenzy of support for the contestant, who had to throw 5 strikes in 30 seconds to walk away a millionaire. Not only did the fans in the stadium watch as he accomplished the feat, but every viewer at home watched with anticipation as each strike moved him closer to one million dollars. So, both the sports team and sponsor received valuable advertising time, without paying for advertising.

Football Contest: This lucky fan was selected to attempt a 50 yard field goal – no easy feat even for a professional. Wendy’s restaurants were willing to make this fan a millionaire if he could drive the football between the uprights. Receiving coaching from one of the team’s kickers, the fan sailed his kick right into a financial security blanket. While it wasn’t the prettiest kick, it was enough to get the big check and create a bench-clearing celebration.

Basketball Contest: A new car is one of the American dreams, but in reality it’s hard to rationalize a purchase when your older car runs just fine. So, imagine the excitement when a new one is on the line, absolutely free. This team was willing to award one to a fan, but only if he could drain a shot from half court. He did, and drove home the American dream.

You may be thinking, “How can my team or company afford to give away a $1 million?” All of these companies enlisted SCA Promotions to help with their contests – and used promotional risk coverage to keep them on budget. By paying SCA a flat fee for the contest, they also received the peace of mind that they weren’t on the hook for the prize and could enjoy the winning moment with their fans. If you’re ready to bring that excitement to your stadium, or your sales floor, view our short movie explaining how a promotion from SCA works.
